We have noticed a real problem with the Bay Area’s retail.

As you roam around San Francisco, you’ll notice a plethora of goods for the wandering human. What’s missing, however, is a shop for the rest of us. Who is helping the buffalo of Golden Gate Park find a much-needed new hobby? Where will the trolls of Iceland go when they finally get enough PTO to take a vacation? And where will all the sprites, fairies, gnomes, and other creatures of a smaller stature find their kitschy vintage clothing?

We stopped asking these questions and started answering them with a brand new 826 Valencia Store, bringing you an enchanted forest tucked away in the heart of Mission Bay.

“But I’m just a boring bipedal, binocular-vision, no-tail human,’’ you might say, ‘‘what have you got for ME at your new store?’’ Surprisingly, we also have plenty of useful products, posters, and charming miscellany to help you connect with your inner-enchanted-forest creature. We can help you get the sword out of the stone it’s been stuck in for who-knows-how-long or help you talk to the trees (we know how taciturn they can be). We will do our best to help you make friends with the often overlooked magical critters of the woods, even if they happen to be rocks.

The official opening has yet to be announced, but we are so excited that we want to invite you to see the space firsthand while we are still setting up. Woodland Creature Outfitters, Ltd. will be open on February 19 while we finish dusting off our mushrooms and separating the magical rocks from the regular ones. So please stop by and shake hands with a tree, chat with our talking owl, or get lost in our in-house cave. It’s up to you.
